MTV Taps Sonicbids on Voter Registration Tour

MTV is now tapping Sonicbids on a voter registration fall tour, according to details shared with Digital Music News on Wednesday.  The tour, part of the broader Choose or Lose registration initiative, kicks off early next month in Boston.

Brooklyn-based Locksley is headlining the 17-city trek, though MTV is seeking indie bands to open the dates.  The tour ends in New York in November after touching Pittsburgh, Detroit, Minneapolis, Denver, Salt Lake City, Tuscon, Los Angeles, Albuquerque, Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, and other cities.

Bands can apply by uploading their music onto Sonicbids, a system that allows tour and festival organizers to easily manage submissions.  Just recently, MTV used Sonicbids to select a pair of independent artists - Dublin-based The Revellz and Brooklyn-based Kovas - for playback within the 2008 VMAs.
